President's Message
President Ventura County Lincoln Club
Where Are We and How Did We Get Here?
We are in a war with fanatics who want to destroy us, our way of life,
and the rest of the civilized free world.
Other Muslim countries, including some of our "friends", are training
suicide bombers and sending jihadists and arms to Iraq to help run us
out of the middle east. Just what are we doing in response?
We are publishing "polls" that say most Americans want the war to end,
debating "non-binding" resolutions which condemn our President and his
handling of the war (and still second guessing his reasons for going in
in the first place) and publishing only the bad news and the deaths of
our servicemen as they occur.
No wonder our enemies are encouraged and heartened by what they hear.
They believe we lack the will to continue to fight until we have secured
a free Iraq. We have become so sensitive to "world" opinion and so
politically correct that we refuse to bomb mosques, hospitals or schools
when we know the jihadists are using them to hide weapons and the
enemy! They can behead our soldiers and drag their burning bodies
through the streets but we commit a war crime when we step on the Koran
or "humiliate" a Muslim.
Who has clipped the Eagle's wings? With our technology and the bravery
of our personnel, we could bring an end to this conflict. Yes, more
Americans may die and the loss of each person is deeply felt. Yet in the
nearly 4 years of war in Iraq, we have only recently caught up with the
loss of life suffered in just one day - September 11th. Every day, more
Americans die or are injured in car accidents than in Iraq.
The Democrats now control the House and, unless we grow some backbone,
will control the Senate and the Presidency in 2008. If we turn tail in
Iraq, how soon can we expect more terrorist attacks? Each of us must
contact every representative we can and urge them to stand up for this
country and support the President and the troops. Write those letters
to the Editors, speak out when you hear someone advocating pacifism or
retreat. Most of all, study the candidates and support those who will
allow this country to continue to lead the world in opposing tyranny,
oppression, genocide and mass murder.
